Bro. Levin Alexander Purnell Enters Omega Chapter

Levin (Hank) Alexander Purnell was born July 27, 1970 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania born to Katrina Ann Purnell, father James Lewis, Baltimore, MD. "Hank" was educated in the Wicomico County Public School system, graduating from Wicomico High School in 1988. Hank graduated from University of Maryland, receiving degrees, Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy, Bachelor of Science, Psychology from Salisbury State University and a Master's Degree, in Physical Science. Hank worked for Verizon, as a Central Office Technician for 19 years. 

He attended Mills Memorial Baptist Temple, Salisbury, MD Hank was also a member of the fraternity, Omega Psi Phi, Pi Epsilon chapter where he was initiated in the Fall of 1996, living the life.

Cherishing Levin's memory are his mother, Katrina Purnell, brother Christopher James Purnell, sister, Pamela Sims, Norfolk, VA, uncle, James Purnell (Yolanda), aunts Trauffine Purnell, Wanda Downes, Salisbury, MD, Janet Freeman and Velma Fisher, Philadelphia, PA, Queenie Myers (Robert), Austin, Texas, Alice Stewart (James), Bryantown, MD, step-mother Deborah Carrington, Pomfret, MD, niece Chandrea Purnell, Salisbury, MD, nephews Joshua Purnell, Owing Mills, MD and Marcus Purnell, Salisbury, MD and a host of relatives, associates and friends.

Hank was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Flora Purnell, great-grandmother, Mazie Ray Shockley, uncles Ernest and Edward Holden, sister Tiffany Carrington, and step-father Charles Carrington, Sr.

Levin's personable and fun-loving spirit will be sorely missed. 

Pi Epsilon Gives Largest Donation at UMES 2017 Homecoming

March 10, 2017

Each year the alumni of Pi Epsilon chapter rally together to give back to their alma mater via the Russell Stansbury/Robert Dowery Scholarship Fund. This $10,000 endowment is the the first of its kind to be established by a Greek letter organization on the UMES campus.

This year during the school's homecoming halftime, Pi Epsilon's Scholarship Chair, Bro. Charles Flowers (#4 Fall 1980), presented UMES President Dr. Joanne Bell with a check for $8,147.00. This annual donation is the 5th year in a row that Pi Epsilon chapter of Omega Psi Phi has given the largest amount of any Greek Letter Organization on the campus.
